Of course, as people move into more senior positions, their specific domain expertise tends to go down as they develop the ability to communicate across a broader set of company disciplines. None of the above assets will work for a leader if she can’t speak or write in a way to convince others that they should follow along, join the team, get on board. All the above gets to the old adage that a leader knows how to do the right thing and a manager knows how to do things right. But a leader has to be a manager, too. I don’t think these skills and abilities can be separated out very easily. Both need to be in the mix.
If you define “leader” (as we often do here in America) as someone in charge of a company, team, or political party, then the answer is, “No, not just anyone can become a leader.” But that’s circumscribing the definition of leader excessively, because in reality there are countless types of leaders in every circumstance imaginable.

Solve problems. People who are successful encourage progress by solving problems and answering questions. No matter where you are or what you’re doing, look around and try to think of ways you can contribute. What are people struggling with or complaining about? How can you make life easier for them in an effective way? Can you re-design or re-organize some aspect of the situation so things run more smoothly? Can you create a product or provide a service that fills a critical gap?
Ability to Motivate. Leaders don’t lead by telling people what they have to do. Instead, leaders cause people to want to help them. A key part of this is cultivating your own desire to help others. When others sense that you want to help them, they in turn want to help you.

In the scientific community especially, it isn’t enough for a manager to have only broad, general knowledge. We need our managers to have expert professional knowledge and judgement in their field, so they can have a deep understanding of the problems at hand and the ability to develop ideas and solutions to address those problems. It’s then their responsibility to utilize their management skills and deploy new methods that find solutions.
Self-confidence encompasses the traits of high self-esteem, assertiveness, emotional stability, and self-assurance. Individuals who are self-confident do not doubt themselves or their abilities and decisions; they also have the ability to project this self-confidence onto others, building their trust and commitment. Integrity is demonstrated in individuals who are truthful, trustworthy, principled, consistent, dependable, loyal, and not deceptive. Leaders with integrity often share these values with their followers, as this trait is mainly an ethics issue. It is often said that these leaders keep their word and are honest and open with their cohorts. Sociability describes individuals who are friendly, extroverted, tactful, flexible, and interpersonally competent. Such a trait enables leaders to be accepted well by the public, use diplomatic measures to solve issues, as well as hold the ability to adapt their social persona to the situation at hand. According to Howell, Mother Teresa is an exceptional example who embodies integrity, assertiveness, and social abilities in her diplomatic dealings with the leaders of the world.[91]

This is good news. We were not meant to stagnate or remain in comfort for long. As anyone who has chosen comfort over growth for too long knows, that very comfort sours and becomes a prison of fear, shame, and isolation.
Finally, some people contend that if everyone is a leader, who’s going to follow? The truth is, nobody leads in everything. You wouldn’t say that if everyone sings lead vocals, who will sing harmony? The best leaders step in and out of their role as leader gracefully, depending on the situation.
The second characteristic is being able to communicate. Some leaders are great orators, but speaking well isn’t all that’s required of a leader. As we all know, there are lots of people who talk a great game but deliver nothing. Leaders who communicate well are those who not only share their thoughts with employees, but also let their strength and personal character show through in their communication, and empower those who work for them by defining the company’s goal and showing how to get there.
Keep in mind that it is perfectly fine to spend some time doing nothing and just being lazy each day. This can actually help with your imagination and self-awareness. Strive for a balance between doing things you want to do and allowing yourself to just “be.”
Leaders also need tools to help them understand the way that others behave, and create positive interactions. As a first step, it may be helpful to understand more about emotional intelligence—another vital quality for leaders to possess—but there are a number of other tools that may also be useful, including Transactional Analysis, and Myers-Briggs Type Indicators.
Individuals with dominant personalities – they describe themselves as high in the desire to control their environment and influence other people, and are likely to express their opinions in a forceful way – are more likely to act as leaders in small-group situations.[76]
What’s particularly helpful here is when leaders have expert power  . People admire and believe in these leaders because they are expert in what they do. They have credibility, and they’ve earned the right to ask people to listen to them and follow them. This makes it much easier for these leaders to motivate and inspire the people they lead.
There are a few different leadership styles that you should be aware of. Your leadership style is how you’re being perceived, and since perception is often reality, it’s something you want to be mindful of.
Here’s an example story of poor leadership: An airline’s forks kept disappearing and no one knew why. After an investigation, it was discovered the dishwashers were throwing them away because they had trouble with adequately cleaning them and they were scared of punishment if they returned dirty forks (and would thusly be reprimanded).[1] If you’re too dictatorial, your team will throw away your forks. Better management would have prevented this problem. So be kind and keep your entire cutlery.
6. Take responsibility. When projects go well, good leaders point to their teams’ hard work and share the praise. And when there are failures, they take ownership, regardless of how mistakes were made. If and when something goes wrong, avoid pointing fingers. Instead, work with your team to address the issue and identify ways to prevent it from happening in the future.

10. Give freedom and be flexible. As long as people know how to get the job done right, stay out of their way. A leader who fosters freedom and flexibility gives people room to work in whatever way is best for them.
If you are not resilient, you may run away as soon as you have to face a difficult situation, which will not help you on your journey to becoming successful. Try and become more resilient. Learn to deal with tough situations, so that you can power through and become successful.
When discussing business leadership, a distinction is often made between good management and good leadership. Managers are thought to be the budgeters, the organizers, the controllers — the ants, as one observer puts it — while leaders are the charismatic, big-picture visionaries, the ones who change the whole ant farm. But such a construction, those interviewed for this article agree, erroneously leads to a bimodal way of looking at something that should really be evaluated on two separate scales. “Everybody has got a little bit of each in them,” says John Kotter, who admits he is sometimes guilty of using the dichotomy in an effort at simplification. “It’s much better to think in terms of measuring people on a zero-to-ten scale for each quality.”

Individuals with high emotional intelligence have increased ability to understand and relate to people. They have skills in communicating and decoding emotions and they deal with others wisely and effectively.[68] Such people communicate their ideas in more robust ways, are better able to read the politics of a situation, are less likely to lose control of their emotions, are less likely to be inappropriately angry or critical, and in consequence are more likely to emerge as leaders.[77]

Providing time to plan with other teachers is another way principals can support their teachers and treat them as professionals. One of the first changes Principal Chiu made at Galileo was to change the school day schedule to allow time each week for teachers to meet and plan together. Adelina Aramburo, former principal at Daniel Webster Elementary School, made sure her school’s tight budget included a few hours of extra pay each month for teachers. She believes this showed teachers that the time they spent meeting and planning together outside their official work day was recognized and appreciated.

Mark van Vugt and Anjana Ahuja in Naturally Selected: The Evolutionary Science of Leadership present evidence of leadership in nonhuman animals, from ants and bees to baboons and chimpanzees. They suggest that leadership has a long evolutionary history and that the same mechanisms underpinning leadership in humans can be found in other social species, too.[103] Richard Wrangham and Dale Peterson, in Demonic Males: Apes and the Origins of Human Violence, present evidence that only humans and chimpanzees, among all the animals living on Earth, share a similar tendency for a cluster of behaviors: violence, territoriality, and competition for uniting behind the one chief male of the land.[104] This position is contentious. Many animals beyond apes are territorial, compete, exhibit violence, and have a social structure controlled by a dominant male (lions, wolves, etc.), suggesting Wrangham and Peterson’s evidence is not empirical. However, we must examine other species as well, including elephants (which are matriarchal and follow an alpha female), meerkats (who are likewise matriarchal), and many others.
Patricia Gray, principal at Balboa High School, says that she spent two to three hours a day observing in classrooms and talking with teachers during her first several years as principal. Principal Weiner notes that many teachers initially objected to the hours he spent observing in classrooms at Alvarado, but he quickly found that the best teachers were eager to work with him to improve their teaching.
Most of the situational/contingency and functional theories assume that leaders can change their behavior to meet differing circumstances or widen their behavioral range at will, when in practice many find it hard to do so because of unconscious beliefs, fears or ingrained habits. Thus, he argued, leaders need to work on their inner psychology.
Dissatisfied with the results of most organizations helping the urban poor in the mid-1990s, Canada launched an experiment, an effort to reach all the kids in a 24-block zone of New York City — he called it the Harlem Children’s Zone — and give them education, social, and medical help starting at birth. The idea was to make success a self-reinforcing phenomenon, as children and their families saw it all around them and recalibrated their expectations. The experiment has worked spectacularly. The zone now covers over 100 blocks and serves more than 12,000 children, with 95% of high school seniors going off to college. If you’re practicing with members of your own team, offer them encouragement. Instead of showing off and being mean when they make a misstep, show them how to improve their game and compliment them when appropriate.
Functional leadership theory (Hackman & Walton, 1986; McGrath, 1962; Adair, 1988; Kouzes & Posner, 1995) is a particularly useful theory for addressing specific leader behaviors expected to contribute to organizational or unit effectiveness. This theory argues that the leader’s main job is to see that whatever is necessary to group needs is taken care of; thus, a leader can be said to have done their job well when they have contributed to group effectiveness and cohesion (Fleishman et al., 1991; Hackman & Wageman, 2005; Hackman & Walton, 1986). While functional leadership theory has most often been applied to team leadership (Zaccaro, Rittman, & Marks, 2001), it has also been effectively applied to broader organizational leadership as well (Zaccaro, 2001). In summarizing literature on functional leadership (see Kozlowski et al. (1996), Zaccaro et al. (2001), Hackman and Walton (1986), Hackman & Wageman (2005), Morgeson (2005)), Klein, Zeigert, Knight, and Xiao (2006) observed five broad functions a leader performs when promoting organization’s effectiveness. These functions include environmental monitoring, organizing subordinate activities, teaching and coaching subordinates, motivating others, and intervening actively in the group’s work.

I’m going to take the plunge into Private Label FBA, and TAS now has this Private Label Classroom, but it’s pricey and it’s not necessary…Scott even says the information in the classroom isn’t secret or special, that everything you need is in his free podcasts and free resources. The classroom more is about the community, the visual learning, structured implementation plan, and weekly Q&As with Scott (and a guy named Chris I think). So they are definitely being transparent about what the classroom is and isn’t and I think it may be good at holding me accountable and actually get this done in a timely manner…but if I can save ~$900 and get a product of mine up and running then that’s probably the better method…
Contrast this to an MLM where “sales people” are paid not only for sales generated but also the sales of the other salespeople that they recruit. It’s that downline action that makes MLM’s scams because it’s not based on the referral of the sale but the referral of additional sales people. Because the primary motivator is getting people to become salesmen and not the product itself, everything falls apart; eventually the number of available of people able to fill the deep down the line spots stop and the last members are left holding an empty bag. There are/can be some additional wrinkles but that’s the basic breakdown.

However, you will *not* succeed just by following the material in the course. The course does not teach you advanced eCommerce skills required to be successful. If you do not have *advanced* knowledge and experience with email and social media campaigns, you too will be one of the 90%.
While all of the Modules are impressive and the best that I’ve ever seen, the other valuable parts of the program I’ve found to be are the Community Forum and the Facebook group.  There are literally THOUSANDS of members apart of the Amazing Selling Machine community, which makes it very easy for networking and interacting with others.
Your review of ASM is spot on. The training and support are average at best, I did not feel that my success really matters to Amazing Selling Machine. I have spent 6 months working at this and have lost $5,000 on this mediocre training and another $10,000 on product, shipping, etc.

Scott’s materials for selling on Amazon are priceless. Wow. The podcast is awesome, but my only gripe is that there are so many episodes (380+ now?!) that I can’t get through them all in one day! The …Kindle book is great as well, it’s probably the best place to start before launching into the podcast. Now I’m about to start the Pay-per-click training on the website. Are you sure your primary image performs best? How do you know your pricing is correct? Maybe you should reduce the price a little bit to increase conversions, without eating into your profit margin. Or maybe you should increase your prices. Unless you test, you just don’t know.

I think the Amazing Selling Machine is way too expensive for someone who is new to online business. And yes, most online businesses should be much less expensive to start. However, with importing, you are always going to have the risk of inventory/no sales.
And there’s amazon itself, which is where the real problem is. Your store isn’t really yours; your listings aren’t yours and “your” customers aren’t your customers. In addition, Amazon can shut you down at a moment’s notice and all your hard work + inventory are now worth close to nothing. That is far too much risk for any business owner that wants to rely on their online business for steady income. Invest the same amount of money and effort into your own niche store (e.g. Shopify or BigCommerce) using a dropshipping approach
My overall view, is the course worth getting? Yes! I believe that anyone can make some money from this and if you want to start up your own business and follow an entrepreneurial route then this is a great way to start. Who has to say you only sell your product to Amazon? To see the best results it will require some ingenuity. For example being creative in how you sell your product to gain customers and increase sales. Do I believe this course could be life changing? Yes!

One of the easiest ways to make more sale from Amazon is social media. Pinterest is the best social media where you can get thousands of targeted traffic without spend dime. This is a book I wrote and I shared my strategies, how I went from Zero to 45 thousand page view every month for FREE.
My first inventory batch had 516 units and it was completely sold out after about one and half month. And remember, I am a complete beginner who knew nothing about selling on Amazon before joining ASM. The system really works!

Don’t waste another second on the things that drain your energy or make you feel fatigued, start noticing what makes you feel happiest and work hard on achieving it. whatever you do make sure it makes you happy. sometimes the things we are most afraid of are the things that make us the happiest. become the person who is in the pursuit of happiness.
If you’re working on a project, your goals and expectations should be clear from the beginning. Then your employees will be more motivated and not confused. It is preferable to have your goals down in written form.

Even Richard Branson said,” Communication is the most important skill any leader can possess”. Most problems can be solved with some good, honest and open conversations. But if you are a leader your communication skills are absolutely vital to also inspire your employees, keep them happy and engaged and dazzle your customers and investors.

ANYONE can sell their own products on Amazon, or even “private label” their own products like what is taught in the Amazing Selling Machine.  Heck, I’ve made a fortune just selling Kindle books on Amazon.
I’m going to take the plunge into Private Label FBA, and TAS now has this Private Label Classroom, but it’s pricey and it’s not necessary…Scott even says the information in the classroom isn’t secret or special, that everything you need is in his free podcasts and free resources. The classroom more is about the community, the visual learning, structured implementation plan, and weekly Q&As with Scott (and a guy named Chris I think). So they are definitely being transparent about what the classroom is and isn’t and I think it may be good at holding me accountable and actually get this done in a timely manner…but if I can save ~$900 and get a product of mine up and running then that’s probably the better method…

Robert talked about a lot more.  The importance of a strong team and the right people around you was one big takeaway for me.  He also spoke about real estate and his strategy to quickly turn his cash into assets.
This is not an opportunity to take lightly with the Amazing Selling Machine, you could lose big. But, on the other hand, given the right training on how to convert sales, I believe you could actually do very well.
If you’ve got a hot product, you can make it work and make good money. I have never taken the course.. All the knowledge I gleaned were from his podcasts and other sources (reddit, FB groups, ImportDojo, etc.) I have 2 products out and am on number 3 and hopefully 4 soon. You can absolutely do it without taking the course. With that said, I would imagine there would be rgeat value in that course still, but if I were you I’d just take advantage of all the free info that’s out there.
