Mintz threatened to cut ties entirely if Disney didn’t accept his terms, and Disney chose to part ways. But in leaving Oswald, Disney decided to create something new: the iconic Mickey Mouse.

Show your students you care. To be a good classroom leader, you have to prove that you care about your students’ success. Be kind and approachable in the classroom, so they respect you but aren’t afraid to ask questions.
Although leaders may be born with qualities that make them effective at influencing others, good leaders are always learning. Good leaders involve themselves in accountability groups, attend leadership conferences and read books that strengthen leadership skills. Good leaders are self-motivated, set personal and professional goals and plan ahead, says Bob Pearce in his article, “Leadership — What Makes a Good Leader,” published on SelfGrowth.com.

Operating in the economy’s most hobbled and reviled sector since the 2008 meltdown, Chenault has kept AmEx (AXP) noncontroversial, strong, stable, and admired. At least twice during the crisis he declined offers to lead even larger institutions, insiders say. Chenault previously led the company through the 9/11 attacks, which decimated travel, the basis of its business.

After founding Pixar Animation Studios and NeXT Computer he was eventually rehired by Apple in 1997 as CEO and went on to develop the revolutionary iPod, iPhone, and many other products.
Being a leader can be tough. There’s the balance between creating a strategy and supporting and guiding others to execute that strategy to manage. The politics and pressures associated with being in a leadership position can be exhausting on a good day, and overwhelming on a bad day. Making decisions that impact the business and a team of individuals who are following your lead is a responsibility that can at times create a sense of tension. Building a resilient mindset is often the missing link for leaders who don’t want to stop at being an effective leader, but rather want to be an exceptional leader. Resilience is the key to dealing with leadership challenges effectively, and boosting leadership performance to thrive in your leadership position.

1.3.1. We want immediate results when we start something new. But life isn’t like that. When we start something new, we experience the principle of lag. This means that there is a period of time before action shows results
Many of us have listened to other men talking about all the amazing things they are going to do with their lives. They are going to get into that Ivy League university, write a book, finally get that startup off the ground that they have been talking about forever. They are going to be a success. But the thing is, most guys don’t do any of the things they say they are going to do. If you were to see them again ten years later, they would be telling you the same old story of how they are going to succeed.
Not all education has to be formal. Apprenticeships and long-term training programs are also positively correlated with higher incomes. Obtaining a Certificate in your field can help to increase your salary.
Great leaders know that when it comes to their company, work place or whatever situation they’re in, they need to take personal responsibility for failure. How can they expect employees to hold themselves accountable if they themselves don’t?
Over the years the philosophical terminology of “management” and “leadership” have, in the organizational context, been used both as synonyms and with clearly differentiated meanings. Debate is fairly common about whether the use of these terms should be restricted, and generally reflects an awareness of the distinction made by Burns (1978) between “transactional” leadership (characterized by e.g. emphasis on procedures, contingent reward, management by exception) and “transformational” leadership (characterized by charisma, personal relationships, creativity).[58]

Honestly assess the things you’re doing in your everyday life, and whether or not they’re helping you to become the type of person you want to be.
Don’t burn bridges along the way. A lot of life is about personal relationships, so don’t forsake them. If you’ve invented a cheap, efficient way to make nuclear fission, but everyone dislikes you, you have no spouse, and no friends, will it be worth it?
