Regardless of how old you are, where you live, or what your career goals are, it’s likely your ultimate goals in life are to be happy and successful. To be successful means more than just having money and making your mark. It means following your passions, living purposefully, and enjoying the present moment.

It’s true that a woman can take part in a man’s success, just as it’s true that she can take part in his failure. For anyone who truly desires success it’s crucial to have the right kind of people around. Select the right people to be around you as this will help you in life.
But leadership really isn’t about a particular position or a person’s seniority. Just because someone has worked for many years doesn’t mean he has gained the qualities and skills to lead a team.  Getting promoted to a managerial position doesn’t automatically turn you into a leader. Dominance. Leaders are often times competitive and decisive and usually enjoy overcoming obstacles. Overall, they are assertive in their thinking style as well as their attitude in dealing with others.
Every great leader shares six characteristics, and it is these characteristics that help them to succeed. Every exceptional leader has developed and honed their leadership skills, continuously learning and developing over time to shape their leadership success.
Leave room for input. Though it’s important to be firm, you should still leave some room for the considerations of others. This way you won’t look like a dictator. Also, there’s a lot you can learn from your employees, which might help your business thrive.
Surround yourself with positive people. Make friends with people you admire for various reasons: because they are happy, kind, generous, successful at work, or successful in other ways. Join forces with those who have achieved things you want to achieve, or who are on their way to a common goal. Don’t let jealousy get in your way: nobody’s success is a threat to yours.[10]
There is no question that some people are intrinsically more drawn towards leadership roles than others. However, it would be nonsense to suggest—although this has been mooted in the past—that only people with certain physical or personal traits could lead. For example, it has clearly been proven that being male, or being tall, does not of itself make someone a better leader, although many leaders are both male and tall.
Ideally, leaders become leaders because they have credibility, and because people want to follow them. Using this definition, it becomes clear that leadership skills can be applied to any situation where you are required to take the lead, professionally, socially, and at home in family settings. Examples of situations where leadership might be called for, but which you might not immediately associate with that, include:
The third and final thing you have to do is develop individuals within the company. In order to accomplish this, you must lead by example, teach employees what leadership means so they can teach their direct reports, establish an environment for success by eliminating excuses, recognize when jobs are well done, have the courage to make the tough calls, and encourage empowerment within certain parameters, among others.

Ask for opinions in a face-to-face situations. At the end of a meeting, you can casually ask if people have any questions or opinions. This will give your employees time to consider what they’re working on. You may also pull individual employees aside, or invite them to your office, to discuss the project further. Tell them that their perspective is crucial to your success.
Externally, it means knowing the organization’s customers (from every  conceivable angle); having a feel for existing and potential markets;  knowing what competitors (and potential competitors) are doing and  planning; staying in touch with industry trends; and monitoring the  environment in general, (which these days is global for just about  everybody), for broader opportunities and threats.
But achieving your ultimate life requires a tremendous deal of learning. It requires an intense dedication to gaining knowledge, learning important lessons, and receiving teachings that add to your wisdom, experience, and education.
In fact, in organizations, one of the reasons employees are promoted to positions such as team leader, supervisor, or department manager, is they have demonstrated over time that people will follow them.
Charisma is certainly helpful, but it’s not essential. There have been many admired leaders in the human history who weren’t the friendliest, most charming of people in the bunch. What was important, however, was that people trusted them, and they were inspired by his or her vision. What you will need is good communication skills (whether it’s through speaking, writing, even art) so you can articulate your vision.
