“being a leader at work who do i want to become”

Luckily for us, leadership isn’t a magical gift but a set of skills that you can acquire and practice. It may come more easily to some than to others, but it’s within reach of all of us. You just have to want it, be willing to work and dare to take a risk.
This formula is your key to success and has worked for almost everyone who has ever tried it.  It will require the very most you can give and the best qualities you can develop. In developing and following these keys to personal success, you will evolve and grow to become an extraordinary person.
This ties in closely to the above point. In order to be a better leader, you must be sure to remember that the people you are leading are not simply a means to your own end. No one wants to follow a leader that does not see them as an integral part of the cause, company, or team’s development. To be a great leader, you should abandon the idea that the maintenance of your authority is one of the most important tasks at hand. You must allow the people that you lead to develop alongside you.
They are usually very good at effective speaking, equally skilled at getting their point across in a formal presentation or Board meeting, or in an informal meeting or casual corridor conversation. They have also honed their ability to communicate in difficult situations, usually by practice over time.
No matter where you are on the chain, you can work on this. Do you excel at written reports, but clam up when it’s time to speak during a meeting? Alternatively, are you a natural when it comes to conversation—but secretly worried that your lack of grammar know-how will hold you back?
Because we’re HUMANS — and as humans we are naturally cognitive misers and have limited willpower. Everyone wants personal success and to learn the keys to success. Everyone wants to have a happy, healthy life, do meaningful work, and achieve financial independence. Everyone wants to make a difference in the world, to be significant, to have a positive impact on those around him or her. Everyone wants to do something wonderful with his or her life.
The lesson, says Nohria, is that Churchill and other great leaders are pragmatists who can deal with difficult realities but still have the optimism and courage to act. “Enduring setbacks while maintaining the ability to show others the way to go forward is a true test of leadership,” he asserts.
In recent years, considerable evidence has emerged that the strongest organisations and groups tend to permit and actively encourage each member of the group or organisation to take the lead at the appropriate point. Organisations and families with particularly controlling leaders, by contrast, tend to be fairly dysfunctional.
Best Answer:  A leader with vision has a clear, vivid picture of where to go, as well as a firm grasp on what success looks like and how to achieve it. But it’s not enough to have a vision; leaders must also share it and act upon it.

At the onset you need to be opened-minded and willing to put in hard work! But if you’re passionate about becoming a great leader, then it can be an enjoyable adventure. Becoming a good leader does not mean becoming perfect, it’s more like understanding your imperfections and learning to work with them.
Listen, then speak – Effective listening takes practice, but the difference it makes to the people you lead, your customers and your supervisors, can be impressive. For employees, knowing their leader is listening can serve as an instant morale booster, customers who feel heard can spread the news about your company’s great service, and upper management will be able to see a difference in your team’s productivity.

Both men believe that “heart” or “compassion” is fundamental for real leadership – “deep empathy” with the people and “a sentiment that fuels the fight against the injustices those people may face.” Canada’s Justin Trudeau is hailed as a symbol of hope for progressives facing anti-globalization forces. He presented a compelling economic message about Canada’s place in the world economy, and was “elected partly because of his commitment to helping ordinary people.”
Situational: Situational leadership encourages leaders to take stock of their team members, weigh the many variables in their workplace, and choose the leadership style that best fits their circumstances.
One of a principal’s most important roles is ensuring that every student taught by an excellent teacher. Although it can be time-consuming, principals must actively recruit good teachers to their schools. Principals can visit teacher education classes to find promising new teachers; they can open their schools to student teachers and try to hire the good ones; and they can talk to teachers and other principals to find quality experienced teachers who might be looking for new positions.
