Be sure to address both short-term and long-term goals; try to think beyond financial and career goals, such as relationship goals, personal goals for bettering yourself, things you would like to experience, or things you want to learn. Draw up a timeline that says when you want to achieve each part.[2]
Social boldness. Leaders tend to be spontaneous risk-takers. They are usually socially aggressive and generally thick-skinned. Overall, they are responsive to others and tend to be high in emotional stamina.
The words “leader” and “leadership” are often used incorrectly to describe people who are actually managing. These individuals may be highly skilled, good at their jobs, and valuable to their organizations – but that just makes them excellent managers, not leaders.
For example, when you start a new project, you will probably have lots of enthusiasm for it, so it’s often easy to win support for it at the beginning. Focus, focus and focus. When you listen to someone, give them 100% of your concentration. By holding a phone in your hand – or worse, constantly looking at it – you are not giving all your focus to the person you’re listening to and give the impression that you have no interest in them.

Situational leadership theory takes us on a journey of group development. An appropriate leadership style is needed that complements the person and the situation. The styles a leader uses to manage the team may include telling and directing, selling and coaching, facilitating and supporting, or delegating. But what qualities does a good leader need to display? What traits are needed for the situational leader?
Lower self-confidence makes you pay attention to critical feedback and helps you be more self-critical. If you’re convinced you’re God’s gift to engineering, you probably won’t be receptive to feedback. Nor will you be able to criticize yourself effectively. Successful people do exactly that.
Leaders solve a coordination problem. Thus, a ‘price leader’ may be a small firm but if it is considered to have a good understanding of the market, then its actions are followed by other firms in the industry and this behaviour may not trigger alarm bells for Competition Policy. A ‘dominant firm’ which is the price leader, on the other hand, is more likely to be manipulating prices for a strategic purpose so as to increase or exploit market power.
Apart from having a futuristic vision, a leader should have the ability to take the right decision at the right time. Decisions taken by leaders have a profound impact on masses. A leader should think long and hard before taking a decision but once the decision is taken, stand by it. Although, most leaders take decisions on their own, but it is highly recommended that you consult key stakeholders before taking a decision. After all, they are the ones who will benefit or suffer from your decisions.
Caring for them is not the same as acquiescing to their desires. You’re leading (hopefully) because you know what’s best for the team; they may not. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn’t mean you have to give them what they want. Allow them to disagree with you, listen to their argument, and let them know why you think the way you do. Let them know you care, but are acting in the best way you see fit.

If any of these factors are missing, leaders will have a tough time attracting followers. At the end of the day, it is the entwining of the relationship of the leader with the followers that makes their organization or portion of the organization succeed.
I would say his/her humility.  True leaders recognize they’re nobody special; they’re just like everybody else. Therefore, they treat people like they would be treated; no being high and mighty.  They also like to roll up their sleeves and put work in like another laborer.  Isn’t it true that in wartime , the soldiers will listen to the officers with wartime experience much more than the officers out of West Point, Annapolis, and the other military academies?

Part of a leader’s remit is to set bold goals. They could take years to achieve, but they need to be specific enough that everyone in the organisation understands them, buys into them and is willing to work together to achieve them. Bold must also mean achievable.
Individuals with dominant personalities – they describe themselves as high in the desire to control their environment and influence other people, and are likely to express their opinions in a forceful way – are more likely to act as leaders in small-group situations.[76]
In short, what makes a good leader isn’t so much a series of predefined core competencies, but more about a personal attitude that can be developed to guide you towards the missing competencies and help you on your leadership journey!
Hit singles and doubles, not home runs. Of course, hitting a home run isn’t a bad thing at all! It’s just that you can’t rely on them to win the game every single time. Try letting singles and doubles add up to the same value as home runs.
Every facet of the organization needs to be planned for, from  production to marketing to finance to logistics to human resources, to  R&D, and a whole host more besides. The best planners understand  that no plan survives contact with reality for long, so good plans have  dynamic revision protocols built in.
