Comparable to the Roman tradition, the views of Confucianism on “right living” relate very much to the ideal of the (male) scholar-leader and his benevolent rule, buttressed by a tradition of filial piety.
Most theories in the 20th century argued that great leaders were born, not made. Current studies have indicated that leadership is much more complex and cannot be boiled down to a few key traits of an individual. Years of observation and study have indicated that one such trait or a set of traits does not make an extraordinary leader. What scholars have been able to arrive at is that leadership traits of an individual do not change from situation to situation; such traits include intelligence, assertiveness, or physical attractiveness. However, each key trait may be applied to situations differently, depending on the circumstances. The following summarizes the main leadership traits found in research by Jon P. Howell, business professor at New Mexico State University and author of the book Snapshots of Great Leadership.

The informal organization expresses the personal objectives and goals of the individual membership. Their objectives and goals may or may not coincide with those of the formal organization. The informal organization represents an extension of the social structures that generally characterize human life — the spontaneous emergence of groups and organizations as ends in themselves.

The answer: They should look to the leader. As Stewards, leaders are expected to protect constants – what doesn’t change. In the midst of organisational and marketplace change, employees will want to see a set of enduring tenets that do not change. These tenets include a leader’s philosophy, purpose, deep values, strengths, and vision. These are a leader’s essence qualities – the example the leader wants to set.
A visionary leader, though, does need lieutenants who can take their vision and translate it into day-to-day work for the rest of the organization. If it’s all vision and strategy with no tie to day-to-day execution, employees will get confused and ultimately leave.

Start fighting for what you want: when it comes to succeeding, some will succeed because they are destined to but most succeed because they fight for what they want. to be able to achieve something significant you have to be fearless in pursuit of what you want to achieve. and even if nobody believes in what you are doing, you have to do what it takes to make it happen you have to be determined you have to have tenacity. .as we know the difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person who uses their determination. don’t be afraid to give yourself everything you ever wanted in life.
For Rosabeth Moss Kanter, a key question is whether a leader’s personal passion matches his or her aspirations. “There are so many false starts, unexpected obstacles, and surprising turns along the path to change. Daily work often drains energy needed for change,” she says. “Leaders must pick causes they won’t abandon easily, remain committed despite setbacks, and communicate their big ideas over and over again in every encounter.”
Don’t burn bridges along the way. A lot of life is about personal relationships, so don’t forsake them. If you’ve invented a cheap, efficient way to make nuclear fission, but everyone dislikes you, you have no spouse, and no friends, will it be worth it?
The root of a problem is not always obvious. Even if there’s agreement in the boardroom, such cohesion can lead to interfering with something that might not be broken while what is broken gains steam. For example, decreases in market share are not always a marketing problem; sometimes it’s an engineering or fulfillment problem.
Set a timeline for when you want to achieve your objective. If you don’t know when you will achieve your objective by, then it’s hard to know whether you have failed. Give yourself a timeline that is difficult but doable. Winning a Tour de France from scratch in two years is not reasonable, but booking a comedy gig in front of at least 20 paying customers probably is.
There are people who are less accomplished in their personal and professional life, and there are people who are more accomplished than us. If you spend time with those who are behind you, your average will go down, and with it, your success.
I had great success with mentoring. During my time as a corporate leader, I met with direct reports one on one on a regular basis, gave specific feedback about their work performance, and just got to know them better. I should have been even more intentional about it. It’s not about how often we met but how much I delved into work issues.
Communication may be the single most important skill of a manager. After all, all the others depend on it. You can’t be a leader if you can’t communicate your vision. You can’t motivate people if they can’t understand what you want. Communication skills can be improved through practice. Here are two exercises you can use to improve your ability to communicate effectively.

A good leader should create a space where all of the people they lead are allowed to be heard (in both the literal and figurative space.) Be you: You can’t be something that you’re not. If you want to be a good leader, you have to be yourself. Take a look in the mirror and figure out your strengths and weaknesses. Let your team know who you are and encourage them to help you in your weaker areas.

There is no task for being passionate about people, being passionate about people is a theme that is woven through every aspect of a leader’s role, it is evident in the way you start your day, give feedback, cascade strategy, manage performance, conduct one on ones, and run team meetings.
The transactional leader (Burns, 1978) is given power to perform certain tasks and reward or punish for the team’s performance. It gives the opportunity to the manager to lead the group and the group agrees to follow his lead to accomplish a predetermined goal in exchange for something else. Power is given to the leader to evaluate, correct, and train subordinates when productivity is not up to the desired level, and reward effectiveness when expected outcome is reached.
We can achieve even the biggest goals as long as we keep the end in mind and keep taking action to get there. No matter how tough things were in the past or our much we struggle in the present, persistence gives us power: “When you meet an obstacle, as you inevitably will, persistence determines what you will do; whether you will give up or keep going. Persistence is what gets you back on your feet, dusted down and ready to go again.”
