This means proactively asking to set up a meeting or a Skype call. Be sure to make that you’ll rearrange your schedule for the conversation — any time works for you. After all, you’re asking for their help — not the other way around.
A leader will then ensure that team members have the necessary skills and abilities to do their job and achieve the vision. They do this by giving and receiving feedback  regularly, and by training and coaching  people to improve individual and team performance.
No matter the situation, showing the person you are working with that you are on the same team can go a long way. If they come to you with an issue, take a moment to see things from their point of view. Maybe they have someone above them breathing down their neck. Maybe they have a lot on their plate. There is a reason why they are coming to you with a certain energy. The key is to meet them where they are, and then position yourself as a resource–not an enemy. If someone is in a stressful situation, or carrying a lot of anxiety, trying to strong-arm them will do nothing but make things worse.
Good leaders develop productive teams, efficient systems and a positive corporate culture. But good leadership doesn’t just happen. Good leaders possess positive personal characteristics, such as integrity, dedication, vision, a sense of fairness and creativity. And good leaders know how to inspire the best in others by being good listeners and motivators. Although many leadership qualities are innate, born into a person, other qualities can be learned.
Learning doesn’t stop once you make the C-suite! Whatever someone’s title, be it L&D officer, manager, CEO or Superhero-in-Disguise – there’s always more to learn. So, make sure managers have access to the leadership training they need to develop their own skills. Leadership and management are different but complementary skills. Leadership revolves around influence, motivation, drive, and other unquantifiable skills. Here are nine traits many great leaders possess:
The first two – public and private leadership – are “outer” or behavioral levels. These are the behaviors that address what Scouller called “the four dimensions of leadership”.   1. The leader is at the service of the team, and not the other way around. Group members must have and feel the support of their leader, the tools needed to do their jobs properly must be available to them, they must have recognition for their efforts and know that there is a person paying attention in order to correct bad habits. That is all part of a leadership which serves the team, and not the opposite.
