When it comes to accountability, you need to follow the approach highlighted by Arnold H Glasow when he said, “A good leader takes little more than his share of the blame and little less than his share of the credit.” Make sure that every one of your subordinates is accountable for what they are doing. If they do well, give them a pat on the back but if they struggle, make them realize their mistakes and work together to improve. Holding them accountable for their actions will create a sense of responsibility among your subordinates and they will go about the business more seriously.
According to Forbes, leaders who show humility are most likely to foster positive work environments, team-oriented employees and low turnover rates. Modesty and respectfulness by a leader towards employees creates a better sense of teamwork and a greater desire by employees to work hard and meet goals.
Regardless of where you are on the career ladder right now, there will be a point when you’ll be handed a leadership role and your team will expect you to hit the ground running. Maybe you’re aiming to lead an initiative, chosen to lead a team project out of the blue, or given the opportunity to apply for a management position earlier than you thought.
Henry Ford experienced a major setback after designing and improving the Ford Quadricycle. He founded the Detroit Automobile Company in 1899, but the resulting cars they produced did not live up to his standards and were too expensive. The company dissolved in 1901. Ford took this in stride and formed the Henry Ford Company. The sales were slow and the company had financial problems; it wasn’t until 1903 that the Ford Motor Company was successful and put the Ford on the map.
Why should your staff and team members it their all if you don’t bother to? By proving your own commitment, great leaders will inspire others to do the same, as well as earn their respect and instill a good work ethic.

Leadership doesn’t have a one size fits all solution, and there is no magic formula that will instantly make you a great leader. Instead it takes time and dedication to learn how to achieve the goals you set, and how to inspire others to follow you and do the same. The researchers evaluated the performance of groups of eleven-year-old boys under different types of work climate. A lot of people don’t realize how important inner circles are because all we see are individual leaders. When you look at CEOs, best selling authors, world-renowned speakers, etc. you rarely hear about the mentors and colleagues who make their success possible.
For example, one group is the Great Man Theory, a category that originated in the 19th century and stresses that great leaders were men born to the task. Another group is the Trait Theory, which dates to the mid-20th century and also centers on the idea that some people are born with the traits that make them great leaders, such as integrity and self-confidence.
Sure, it’s easier to do just enough to get by. To do what you’re used to doing. But if you seek out opportunities to create phenomenal returns and ramp up the quality of your work, success will come easier than you think.
Charisma. People usually perceive leaders as larger than life. Charisma plays a large part in this perception. Leaders who have charisma are able to arouse strong emotions in their employees by defining a vision which unites and captivates them. Using this vision, leaders motivate employees to reach toward a future goal by tying the goal to substantial personal rewards and values.
